Many thanks, Dick, that is really helpful. It appears Edmund only attended Sherborne in the VIth form for the last two years of his schooling - I don't suppose there is any indication of where he had been educated before that ?

Richard

Richard, Edmund was at Wellington before Sherborne. If you google him you will find an IWM file, with portrait and clippiong from memorial book. schoo lmagazine

Dear Dick,

Might I please trouble you for a couple of look-ups of the following.  Any information would be welcome, and pictures in particular.

SCHWABE, Maurice Salis (sometimes Salis-Schwabe).   Born 1871, attended Cheltenham College Jan. 1884 - July 1885; Marlborough College April 1886 - April 1889.  Changed name to Maurice Shaw 1911, Lieut. 12th HLI died of wounds France about 30 Sept. 1915.

Dick,

I wonder if you could help me regarding a Reginald Edwards, Repton School, OTC 1912, 13 & 14. Any information would be gratefully received due to conflicting information being received from his officers file and reports of a motor accident in Sheerness in 1915.

Hi John,

Thanks, his officers file has quite a few comments regarding this and yet later in the file on his active service form it states 3rd Rifle Brigade wounded in action on 11/10/18, returned home to the UK on 13/10/18.

Yet another misfile by the NA.

Thank you Dick, his officers file confirms that. His record of Service however, which covers quite a few pages, says otherwise. I can see where the mistake has been made, Edwards/Edwardes 5th/6th RB just seem to be coming across quite a few of these files that have not been put together properly or with lack of attention.

That's him. I had a suspicion he might not be in the War Record and possibly not on the College war memorial too as his war service was not mentioned in the Dulwich College Register. He served with the 12th East Surreys and was killed on 20th January 1917. Many thanks for checking.

Kind Regards,

James

Hi Dick,

Would you be able to check for Richard Gerald Milburn, Trinity College Cambridge 1912-1914, if Trinity produced their own memorial book? I have his entry from the War List of the University of Cambridge 1914-1918 but wasn't sure if Trinity had a dedicated book or not.

Many Thanks,

James

Hello Dick - if I could ask for your help once again.

I am researching Alfred Peel who attended Bradford Grammar School and Kingswood School, Bath.

If you have sources for either school I'd be gratful for anything they have for Peel.

If either source exists and goes beyond the fallen to those who served I'd also love to know if Alfred's brother Edward Percy Peel is mentioned.

In hope.

I have sent you a pm. The November 1920 edition of the Bradfordian has a list of all old boys whose names were to be added to the school memorial, again A Peel is included. I took some selective photographs from the wartime editions in the Bradford Local Studies Library seemingly back in 2014.  don't know if they still have the material as much was disposed of when they were obliged to change premises.

The school at one stage apparently started to collect photographs of old boys who had fallen. I ahve not followed this up as the archives were sealed off for building work when I found the references. Theyshould be back in business now. I could see no mention of a brother in the pages that I copied.

Hi Andy,

Charterhouse have an excellent roll of honour on their website and their archives are very helpful, I would suggest you get in contact with them directly as well. They have a great collection of photographs and excellent detail on most of their pupils.

Kind Regards,
