Student at St. John's College, Oxford from Jul 1914 to Aug 191 2nd Lieut. Yorkshire Regt., Jul 1914 Lieutenant, Yorkshire Regt., Sep 1914 Captain, 7th Bn, Yorkshire Regt., Apr 1915 Went with the Battalion to the front, Jul 1915 Killed in gallant attack on enemy trench, 5 Nov 1916. JP for the County of London and Principal Clerk, Secretary's Department, Admiralty (retired) and his wife, Mary Anne, 2nd daughter of Michael Kirby of 43 Haverstock Hill, NW Educated at Private School, Thetford Grammar School, Co. Norfolk, and at Haileybury School from 1900 to 1901. Before the war was Clerk in the Estate Duty Office, Somerset House, 1903Served in ranks of the Civil Service Rifles from 1905 to the Spring of 1914 when he resigned with the rank of Corporal Commissioned as 2nd Lieut, 1/15th London Regiment on 3 Jul 15 Promoted to Lieut., 1/15th London Regt (Civil Service Rifles) on 16 May 1916 Went to France in March 1916 Killed in action, 7 Oct 1916 while leading his company during the advance from LeSars to Les Boeufs. He attended Wadham College, Oxford Lt Marsh is listed in the Oxford University Roll of Service, 1920 but there is not much information other than what you already have. It indicates he entered Wadham College in 1910 and that he went on active service on 26 Aug 1914. He was a student at St. Edmunds before entering Oxford. Regards. Cecil Valdemar Faber, 9th Bn, KRRC Son of J V Faber of the Manor House, Ewell, Surrey. Educated at Eton School from 1909 to 1914; Head of House and received the King's 3rd German Prize in 1914. Matriculated at Oriel College, Oxford and was supposed to begin school in 1915 but joined the Army when the war began Served in the 9th Bn, KRRC in France. Killed at Hooge on 30 July 1915 - on this day the 9th Bn, KRRC was subjected to the first use of "liquid fire" by the Germans. He was also a former pupil of Dean Close School, Cheltenham, Gloucs. Wilfrid originally enlisted into the 10th Royal Fusiliers (Stockbrokers Bn) as a private, but was transferred to th S.L.I. on receiving his commission. He was born on 24 June 91, the son of G Malcolm of Northern Nigeria and Mrs. Malcolm of West Kensington BSc degree, City and Guilds College. U Lond, 1908-1911 Commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant, RFA from the Special Reserve on 22 Dec 11. Served in France from August 1914 to March 1915 (Wounded and invalided) Returned to France where he served until July 1916 Mentioned in Despatches in French's Despatch of 14 Jan 1915 Killed in action near St. Omer on 9 July 1916.
