If he was a child on entry: Training Ship ?

I have a copy service record of a Boy 2C who entered the R.N. on 16/5/1905, & his Previous Occupation is T.S. Boy. So I would also take it to mean Training Ship Boy. Non R.N. boys training ships were designated T.S. e.g. T.S. Arethusa.

ARABIS.

Makes more sense than "Toronto Symphony Bassoonist".

Training Ships were one of the ways of dealing with boy orphans, and I suspect, minor youth offenders. This site gives some background: http://www.portcities.org.uk/london/server...ver-Thames.html

Many thanks to all.

The rating concerned joined Ganges on the 21 Feb 1922. He was then aged 15 1/2.

Is it possible to trace which upon which Training Ship he served?

Regards,

Keith
