Hello

I am researching a RNVR and have downloaded his record cards from the NA online, and have a few questions if anyone can answer I would be most greatful.

1. are the war diaries avilable for Anson Bn for Sept /Oct 1918

2. The same for Nelson Bn Dec 1915

Do the nominal rolls for these Bn exist

When did Nelson Bn deploy to the Dardenelles in 1915

Many thanks for any help

The Nelson Bn left Blandford by train for Avonmouth on 28 February 1915.

I presume you know of "The Royal Naval Division" by Douglas Jerrold, available as a reprint from Naval & Military Press.

Nelson WD for Gallipoli does not exist but there is a WD for 1st (Naval) Bde which, with that for Anson for the whole of 1918, is at Kew.

No such thing as a 'nominal roll' because men came and went every day. The closest thing for October 1914 is the list of those who qualified for the 1914 Star in each RND battalion for their service at Antwerp/Dunkirk. See "The 1914 Star to the Royal Navy & Marines" by WH Fevyer & JW Wilson.

Nelson sailed from Avonmouth in HMT FRANCONIA on 1 March 1915.
