I have just been doing some research at the Library in Scottish National War Museum, and found the above very interesting.

Every issue nearly has pictures of the soldiers who were killed, and also has Casualty Lists, and Military Honours Lists.

If anyone would like me to have a look for any Officer’s or Soldier’s details then just post the details preferably with rough dates, as my lunch break is not all that long.

For southerners there are copies in the regimental museum in Horseferry Road. Visits by appointment I believe.

I'd be very grateful if you could find a photo of Pte. E.C. Banfield (1903) k.i.a. 1/11/1914.

Many thanks

Thanks for the offer. I'd be really grateful for anything you have on private Sidney Goates, who was killed on 1st July 1916. He was a keen sportsman at school, being captain of the football and cricket teams and winner of several events at sports day. He came from a large family, but none of them can be traced, so there is a complete gap between his leaving school and his death. He has no known grave.

Kevin

The only entry i could find for Sgt Walker was the Entry for June 1918 showing that he was Killed on the 1st May 1918.

I did however find this picture of the 2nd battalion Sergeants no date give, but it appeared in a late 1918 edition.

Thanks for looking up S Goates for me. The school magazine has almost identical information. It's sad to see how such a rising star could be wiped out with hardly a trace. I'll keep looking for family.
