stevehowarth Posted 27 December , 2003 Posted 27 December , 2003 Hi What exactly is an 'artillery formation' performed by an infantry unit? I would appreciate a definition from any 'pal' in the know. Thanks Steve
Broznitsky Posted 27 December , 2003 Posted 27 December , 2003 Steve, try here: http://www.1914-1918.org/forum/index.php?s...llery+formation I remembered I'd seen this covered before, and used the Search facility to find the original thread. Peter in Vancouver
Robert Dunlop Posted 27 December , 2003 Posted 27 December , 2003 Hi Steve If you go to the 'Other' Forum in 'The soldiers and armies of the Great War', then scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find the 'Search' facility. Type in the keywords 'artillery formation' and you will get two responses. The first thread will answer your question. It includes a neat diagram of the artillery formation, which was the open formation adopted by infantry who were traversing an area that could be or was being bombarded with artillery. Robert
