Remembered Today:

Murderous Weapons

Recommended Posts

I came upon this by D H Lawrence:-

So guns and strong explosives

are evil, evil

they let death upon unseen men

in sheer murder.

And most murderous of all devices

are poison gas and air-bombs

refinements of evil.

At first I thought it was T E Lawrence, then realized it wasn`t, but I thought DHL took no part at all in WW1. Are his comments based on any experience? Phil B

He was a concientious objector (and also almost certainly unfit).

He was living with (and later married to) a Freda Richtofen a German lady who was, I understand, somehow related to a couple of quite good fighter pilots but I doubt if he gained any special knowledge from that quarter.
