Hi Neil,

Here is a wee Bio on your man. He is recorded in the Monifieth and Dundee ROH and his name is on the Monifieth Memorial sans middle initial.

4th Battalion The Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). Age 23. Youngest Son of Margaret Brown and the late George Brown. of Finnaird Place, Monifieth, Angus. He had been in the 4th for 5 years and was an expert shot representing the 4th at Bisley on two ocassions. He was a keen sportsman and a prominent member of Monifieth YMCA Football Club. He was employed as a joiner with Messrs James Tullis & Son, Monifieth. Sgt Brown is mentioned in Wauchope (Vol. 2 page 13) after Aubers which was a "sair fecht" for the 4th.

Neil

It is not available on line. I am creating a data base of everyone from Monifieth who served in the Great War.
