Augustine Posted 17 April , 2007 Posted 17 April , 2007 I was doing an image search on Google and "WWI British Infantry Sergeant" turned up the following drawing: Now, since Google tends to give me images completely unrelated to what I was searching for, I realize this may not, in fact, be the uniform of a British infantry sergeant. If it isn't, then what sort of uniform is this? And, in that case, can anyone help me find a photo or drawing of a British infantry sergeant in uniform? (Group photos are okay too, as long as the uniform is fairly visible.) As I mentioned in my other thread about British nurses' uniforms, I'm looking for images to help with research for some artwork I'm planning on doing. Thanks for your input!
alliekiwi Posted 17 April , 2007 Posted 17 April , 2007 Sorry, Augustine, the picture is not showing up. Could you put up a link to the page intead? Allie
alliekiwi Posted 17 April , 2007 Posted 17 April , 2007 Here it is. (The strangest unrelated item I got on a google image search was a picture of Bill Clinton when I was a searching for 'camel'. The connection escapes me.)
Augustine Posted 17 April , 2007 Author Posted 17 April , 2007 Thanks for reposting the image, alliekiwi. The original showed up fine on my browser, so apologies for it not showing up on your end.
Crunchy Posted 17 April , 2007 Posted 17 April , 2007 Augustine, Looks like British infantry 1914 to me. From the badge he's in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers and he appears to be wearing South African War ribbons. Regards Chris
