Researching soldiers of the German Army WW1

Hi all,

Could anyone tell me if it is at all possible to research German soldiers from WW1? I was told that the archives were destroyed in WW2. The particular soldier I am looking for is either Kornelius or Sixtus (brothers) Dylawerski. Born in Polajewo near Poznan (Posen). I believe he may have joined the regiment recruited from Poznan.

Is there somewhere I can write to for information?
