Jim_Grundy Posted 27 December , 2003 Share Posted 27 December , 2003 Nigel Sorry but I won't be going to Kenya any time soon. However, if you're researching your great-grandfather's career you might find the following website useful: http://www.frontiersmenhistorian.info/ They've always proved helpful to me in the past. In the meantime, I'll see if there's anything in the Official History about what was happening at the time. I note your great-grandfather was 55 years old at the time of his death and that the CWGC records that he spent several years in the United States' army before joining the Legion of Frontiersmen (25th Battalion Royal Fusiliers). I would certainly be interested to know more of his story. Is there anything else you could tell us? Cheers, Jim P.S. Have you asked the CWGC whether it would be able to provide you with a photograph of his grave? It can take a long time, especially in such isolated spots, but I've found that they will do so the next time a periodic inspection visit is scheduled. LF Historian Posted 23 April , 2006 Share Posted 23 April , 2006 Nigel, Found a new site called "Find a Grave" you can search by country, if you go to Kenya there are 11 graves listed. However only one is 25th that is Dartnell's. Regards LF Historian

I'd just like to say thanks for the info, I do know that he has obtained two photographs of the grave of Harry Bird, one of which was supplied by the CWGC, the other bya forum member I believe.
