jdwn1 Posted 15 April , 2007 Posted 15 April , 2007 Hi Steve Thanks for sharing the photo of the Scottish Horse. Here is another photo taken from the book The Parish of Comrie's part in the Great War. Its a prewar photo of D Squadron 1st Scottish Horse Comrie troop in training. I thought there may be a similarity to the tall man sitting in the centre of your photo and the tall Sergeant standing on the right with the swagger stick in the Comrie troop photo. The Sergeants are named and it may be possible to identify him. Its unfortunate the museum dedicated to the Scottish Horse in Dunkled closed. Do you know in which Squadron/Troop your G Grandfather served? Ian
steve4969 Posted 15 April , 2007 Author Posted 15 April , 2007 Hi Ian thanks for getting in touch and for the photo, could you possibly email direct to me so i can have a copy, as im not sure if i can down load off here. I am still researching my G Grand father, the photo was given to me by his son, my G granfather is in the middle row third in from the right, I dont know his number or have any details on his service with the SH, I know he served with the Scots Greys in ww1, the photo must have been taken approx 1901 - 1905 as he was born in 1885 and in the photo he looks about 16-20. The records are now kept in chapter house which is in the cathedral at Dunkeld they have all the registers bar one and they cannot find his name in them, he also changed his name at some point which hasnt helped they also have a large selection of photos. if you have any other info would love to hear it Regards Steve
