Hi We have now completed our roll call of men from Raunds who fought in the war, listing them by name with units where known. There are also some interesting bits and pieces. Please visit and see what you think.

Echo above sentiment - smooth transition all round. Starting such a project is easy - following it through to its conclusion (if that EVER happens!!) is a different story. Well done from a fellow memorial researcher.

Thanks for all the great comments. Steve must have the credit for the website, he updates it every sunday. Getting involved in the project has given me a great deal of pleasure and it has been a fantastic learning experience, as well as giving us the opportunities to get involved with the Western front Association and going to all the interesting lectures.

Plus we would have never realised that there were so many Memorials in our small town. We are hoping to make the booklet available online in the future for any one who might be interested.

We are having an open day next saturday, details on the website. We would welcome any visitors.

Thanks again for the comments

I forgot to mention that if anyone has any information on any of our men then we would be very pleased to hear from them. For some of the men we have only a very basic unit such as Suffolks etc.

Well done guys, that really is a well put together site. Some of the pages are quite striking with the colour of the photographs contrasting against the greys of the background.

Don't be put off by not being able to pin down everyone right away. I found that the initials some people have on the memorial may not be anything like their real initials. For instance I spent many months searching for a JD Larman, only to get into conversation with an old lady from the village who told me who the real man was, and quite by accident at that! Turned out he was DC Larman. It all adds to the experience of the task you set yourselves - and to that satisfaction you feel when another piece of the jigsaw slots into place.

Excellent site, and I will be adding a link to it on my site.

Best regards,

Nigel
