IanA Posted 12 April , 2007 Posted 12 April , 2007 http://sniff.numachi.com/pages/tiRESTHORS.html Heart breaking as sung by the late Keith Marsden of Cockersdale. I hope you think it's worth a look.
Jim Clay Posted 12 April , 2007 Posted 12 April , 2007 I hope you think it's worth a look. Without a doubt, Ian. Very moving. Jim
delta Posted 12 April , 2007 Posted 12 April , 2007 Superb - thank you Swanmore is a lovely village, in the Meon valley - surrounded by uplands Stephen
montbrehain Posted 13 April , 2007 Posted 13 April , 2007 I have heard this song sung somewhere. I have a feeling it was on the Radio 2 folk programme (dont say it ! ) I live a few miles from Swanmore and it is a nice rural area. But like anywhere the builders are getting in . I seem to remember the song was written by a local man (officer?) I wish I had listened the programme a bit more now "MO"
IanA Posted 13 April , 2007 Author Posted 13 April , 2007 Radio 2 folkie programme seems about right. There are at least two recordings of this song commercially available. One is by a female group (female folk singers eh? They'll be giving them the vote next!) but the best one is sung by Keith Marsden on a Cockersdale album. Beautiful wistful quality to it.
