johnnyg Posted 10 April , 2007 Posted 10 April , 2007 Hi, Can anyone out there help me find on a map the following positions described below; *2nd Brigade From present 5th Div. trench line in I.30.c to where new trench line crosses the fence east of the house marked in J.19.c.1.7 inclusive. (scale 1/10000). The order is dated May 2nd 1915. I know the position is the Ypres sector South of the Menin Road from Hooge. Any help most appreciated. Johnnyg.
Aurel Sercu Posted 10 April , 2007 Posted 10 April , 2007 Johnny, All I can say is that I.30.c is the subsquare in which Mount Sorrel can be found. Or, let's say the centre of this subsquare is approx. 800 m (1/2 mile) east northeast of Hill 60. (I'm sure you'll find Hill 60 on a map.) J.19.c.1.7 : not easy to explain where it is exactly (sorry, I have no scannable map right here), but if you draw a vertical line through that slight bend in the Menin Road at Zandberg, a little east of Bellewaarde, then J.19.c.1.7 is approx. 1.150 km or almost 3/4 mile due south of that bend. Sorry I can't make it more visible with a map. I hope someone else can. Aurel
