KRRC Uniform

Hi All

I posted this in another area but was wondering if any of you uniform experts could help?

I have attached a photo of one of my Wickford men that was kindly sent to me by the family.

I know the middle chap is my man who was KIA whilst serving with the KRRC at Langemarck. Who the others are is the mystery?

We know he had two brothers both of whom served in the Great War, alas the MIC shows one with the Devons and one with the RA. From the badges it appears they are all KRRC but it is possible that all three were in the KRRC pre war together.

The question is does anything in the photo particularly the uniform give away any date? Obviously if it is taken in WW1 it would seem likley to be his mates, if pre war his brothers, any help suggestions or info gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

Steve

They don't look particularly alike, so I'd have said mates rather than brothers. The picture also looks Great War period to me.

The two on the right look similar.

Correct me if I am wrong but the KRRC did not have any TA Bns until 1937 so unless all 3 were pre-war regulars then it is unlikley to be them. The KRRC were a London recruited regt and the London Regt 1-28th bns (less the missing 2 numbers of course) provided the Territorial Bns for that area.

On that basis I would say KRRC friends not brothers. The style of photo has all the look of a WW1 studio picture done for those at home. Do you know your chap's date of enlistment and that may help?

Thanks for the thoughts.

The MIC's were pretty dull but showed the oldest brother was in France in 1914. I do know that Frank the middle chap was KIA aged 29 in 1917, making him born around 1888, his other brothers were both older one born c. 1885 and the other c. 1880 I thought two of them looked quite similar but I guess each eye seems something different!

Cheers

Steve
