johnterry Posted 9 April , 2007 Posted 9 April , 2007 I am struggling to find the war diaries at the National Archives for 8th H.T. Company, ASC covering 1915 and 3rd Field Survey Company, Royal Engineers for 1917. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful. Thanks, Corby.
the gunners dream Posted 9 April , 2007 Posted 9 April , 2007 Corby, The best bet is to go to the order documents page on the National Archives site (NA). However this part of the site seems to be down at the moment. You'll get the option to put in the unit, the years you want and the series, normally WO, (War Office), you'd like, both the year and the series is optional. You might have to play around a bit, but if the documents are held at the NA you should find them. The link to order documents is below: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/advance...s/orderform.asp Click on the 'search the catalogue' link and that will take you to the page you need when it's up and running. johnterry Posted 9 April , 2007 Author Posted 9 April , 2007 Steve, Thanks for your advice. I should perhaps have added that I have searched for these units under WO95 in the Catalogue without success, even just using parts of their titles. regards, Corby.
Terry_Reeves Posted 9 April , 2007 Posted 9 April , 2007 Corby 3 Field Survey Company's War Diary does not exist I'm afraid,. The unit served with 3rd Army from 5.3.16 to 11.11.18 and became 3rd Field Survey Battalion in 1917. Terry Reeves
