Hello

Doing some research and nearly every casualty Ive come across on the above dates was shot in the foot (some in the leg)

Apart from wanting a blighty wound, any thoughts on why so many got this wound ? I thought about a machine gun sweeping them but would that hit so many feet ?

Any ideas ?

I'd have thought that your machine gun idea would be favourite. Only works, of course, if they were attacking. What were they up to that day?

One of the things which made German MGs hard to spot and/or deal with, was mounting them to fire about 4" above the ground.

thanks both - they where getting stuck in and casulaties where very high

And a 4'' height -that would explain a lot - I will have to read up and see if they came under machine gun fire
