MONTGOMERY DSO CMG Royal Marine Light Infantry Died 21.11.20 Age 40 Commemoration: Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial, Surrey, UK Gnr William PARKER RMA/14560 Royal Marine Artillery Died 14.05.21 Commemoration: Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial, Surrey, UK NOT FORGOTTEN Francis and Parker died in the same rebel incident in Ireland. horatio2 Posted 3 April , 2007 Share Posted 3 April , 2007 The two gunners' unit was 8th RM Battalion. The contemporary "Globe and Laurel" notes these two RMA Gunners as "murdered by rebels". Three other (RMLI) deaths in 8th RM Battalion in Ireland during May 1921 were noted as "captured/kidnapped and shot/murdered by rebels" (1 man) and "killed in ambush" (2 men). None of these deaths were commemorated by CWGC but the acceptance of these two RMA men means that all five are now 'in from the cold'. RIP Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
