Jack Taylor volunteered in Sept.1914, was promoted to corporal, injured in action, and later commissioned. in the 1/7th Battalion West Yorkshires. Why would he then apply for transfer to the Indian Army Reserve? Might it be to get away from the Western Front? Or could it be thought to be a good career move? Or can someone advise me of any other possibility .Sadly, although accepted for transfer, notification was only received after his death at Passchendaele in October 1917.
