Dundalk War Memorial

Greetings all. Can anybody tell me if there is a war memorial - with names - in Dundalk, Co. Louth? And if so, does anybody have a list of the names? I am especially interested in Gallipoli casualties noted on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Regards to you all,

Pat

For Irish war memorials I recommend this site.

Dundalk is not yet listed but I think it would be worth mailing the site owner via the feedback to see if he can help.

There is no Great War Public War Memorial in Dundalk. However there are/were memorials in at least 2 of Protestant Churches, the Presbyterian and Church of Ireland ( Anglican). The Methodist Church closed several years ago and is now used as business premises with a room set aside for prayer.

List of those who enlisted from Dundalk Presbyterian Church.

Taken from the Presbyterian Church in Ireland Roll of Honour.

Unlike many other churches in the R. of H. there is no mention of casualties.

Only six of them served in Irish regiments.

There are memorials in Castlebellingham and Drogheda on www.irishwarmemorials.ie, if that is near enough for you. If anyone in Dundalk would record memorials there, I would be very pleased to add the records to my website.
