Kate Wills Posted 12 December , 2003 Share Posted 12 December , 2003 Eddie, I might be able to help. Is there anything specific that you are after?
Eddie Bosano-Andrews Posted 12 December , 2003 Author Share Posted 12 December , 2003 Hi Kate What I'm looking for is something like a group photo in the hopes that my great grandfather will be in there somwhere, or really any photos of any of the battalion around the time of Neuve Chapelle. I really appreciate your help here.
Kate Wills Posted 12 December , 2003 Share Posted 12 December , 2003 Eddie, I'll see what I can do, though any results won't come immediately I'm afraid as there will be some trawling to be done. Can you tell me something about your grandfather, such as where he was from please.
Eddie Bosano-Andrews Posted 12 December , 2003 Author Share Posted 12 December , 2003 Hi Kate My Great Grandfather was Henry Edward Andrews, he was from Notting Hill in London, he was born in Chelsea but on enlistment gave his birthplace as Windsor. He enlisted at the Marylebone Recruiting Office, I think in October 1914, he was killed on 13/14 March 1915. I can understand that the chances of getting a photo of him are slim, which is why I was hoping to at least maybe to get a group photo that might just maybe include him. Thanks again Kate
Eddie Bosano-Andrews Posted 11 January , 2004 Author Share Posted 11 January , 2004 Hi Kate I've found out some more info about my G-Grandfather he was a pre-war regular and was in the 1st Bn of the Northants. between 1898 and 1902 and was stationed in India between those dates also. He re-enlisted at Marylebone on 17 November 1914 and was posted to France 28 December 1914.
Kate Wills Posted 11 January , 2004 Share Posted 11 January , 2004 Thanks Eddie. In the not too distant future I will plonk myself behind a microfilm reader in Northampton Central Library, and see if there is mention of him in the local press. Best wishes Kate
