Remembered Today:

Bournemouth help required.

I am interested in the 8th East Lancs, billeted at Pokesdown from November 9th 14 to April 3rd 1915.

If anyone would be willing to take photos of the following places I would be grateful:

Warren Hill

Sopley Common

Foxbury Hill.

I am a shade reticent about asking for this favour as I am not sure how far these places are apart, or if this request ir reasonable at all.

If anyone can help shed any light on the 8th East Lancs time in Pokesdown, or indeed 25th Division's time in the Bournemouth area I would also be glad to hear from you.

Any suggestions or support gladly accepted.

If I can do a look up at Kew in return that would be fine.

regards

Stephen

By chance came across your post and in the last year this site " Streets of Bournemouth " has come on stream with some images

The places you mention only one sounds likely at this time Sopley Common which would mean crossing two Rivers to reach the Avon and the Stour and climbing St Catherines Hill but only about 5 miles from Pokesdown where these images were taken.

There is Warren Edge Road at Southbourne also a Foxholes Road (which is a hill) which are near to Pokesdown

I have been trying find another image on that site which also shows a Lancs Regiment departing Southbourne in fact they are marching towards Foxholes Road
