nhclark Posted 16 March , 2007 Share Posted 16 March , 2007 May I ask for help with the attached service card please (fragment thereof). James Cecil Watcham enrolled with the RNR in Grimsby on 13th June 1917 - this is the first date recorded on his card. He then served in some capacity until 26th August 1917, and on the 27th August 1917 joined the establishment of Attentive III at Dover and served as Deck Hand on HM Drifter "Silver Queen" until killed in action on 15th February 1918. Can anyone decipher the writing next to the first two dates on the card? I haven't a clue about the first, but perhaps the second refers to "Pekin", which I understand was a Grimsby base involved in minesweeping? (His brother, also from Grimsby, served with HMS Pekin.) I can't get a better picture than the one I've got I'm afraid. Thank you, Noel 5979_008b.pdf
