James Blonde Posted 11 March , 2007 Share Posted 11 March , 2007 Hallo Fellow-members, While researching information for my book, I noticed that many newspapers of the time (circa late 17OO's to 1920's?" tended to include monthly "Stations of the Army" at home and abroad. When did they start to publish them regularly? I know that such a list would not be Published circa August 1914 - 1919, but did they start post WW1. Were the lists ever compiled into a book or privately published? Do you know if the said lists have ever been made available on CD Rom? I will say I am surprised at just how many artillery units were in Ireland in 1913!! Connaught Stranger
Chris2097 Posted 20 September , 2015 Share Posted 20 September , 2015 Hello, I have a digitised copy of the 87th Battery RFA Battery History Book, the unit still exists today but is now 97 Battery Royal Artillery. The Battery were based in Ireland pre WW1 and went back afterwards and were involved in the Irish War of Independence. If you are interested drop me a line and i'll send you a CD, theres not a massive amount of detail ref the war in ireland but there is a bit. KJBunting Posted 1 September , 2016 Share Posted 1 September , 2016 Hi Chris just come across your post regarding relatives to members of 87th Battery RFA. My grandfather was a driver during WW1 No 80990 Arthur Bunting.I have been struggling to find much info about the movements of the Battery during WW1 and would be very interested to view your Battery History Book. I know that they went back to Ireland after the war and were stationed in Cork. My grandfather met and married my grandmother there and they were married in Cork. She originally being from Fermoy.
