Ice Tiger Posted 24 October , 2007 Share Posted 24 October , 2007 35029 Private Richard Sharman Queens West Surreys Paul Just done a search for you and the only R SHARMAN on the register enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps at Guildford. If you have any middle names I can see if he gave this as his first name on enlisting (quite common). If not, he may have been in the QRWS Rgt but he didn't enlist in Surrey between 1914 & 1920. Sorry I couldn't be of more help Andy
Paul Stephens Posted 25 October , 2007 Share Posted 25 October , 2007 Hi Andy, Thanks very much for looking this up for me - As far as I know there was no middle name, so it may well be that he enlisted outside the county. Thanks again for your kindness Cheers Paul

Ice Tiger Posted 19 November , 2007 Share Posted 19 November , 2007 Andy Welcome to the forum Do you know which one of these (if any) he is? Please remember that the Bn or Rgt enlisted in is not always the one on the MIC etc as many changed Rgt's Bn's etc. knowing where he lived or was born is a great help to me. If you think he is here I am more than happy to post his attestation details for you. Andy
Phil996 Posted 20 November , 2007 Share Posted 20 November , 2007 Dear Andy I'd be very grateful if you could look for an entry for Harold F Waller, who served in the 1/5th East Surreys in India. I've got his MIC - see attachment - and I want to find out if he was the younger brother of my grandfather, Alfred Waller, who you kindly looked up for me a few weeks ago. Harold would have been 20 or 21 in 1914. Many thanks. Phil

DavidAE Posted 29 January , 2008 Share Posted 29 January , 2008 David This appears to be the only entry that's a reasonable match for any of your three... Regards Steve Thanks very much for that Steve. Reg and Arthur are proving to be a bit elusive but I did find Ernest in the pension rolls on Ancestry, six pages of interesting detail, well worth checking out on the chance that the record survived WW2.
