Paul

Just done a search for you and the only R SHARMAN on the register enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps at Guildford.

If you have any middle names I can see if he gave this as his first name on enlisting (quite common). If not, he may have been in the QRWS Rgt but he didn't enlist in Surrey between 1914 & 1920.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Andy

Hi Andy,

Thanks very much for looking this up for me - As far as I know there was no middle name, so it may well be that he enlisted outside the county.

Thanks again for your kindness

Cheers

Paul

Hi Rob

Will do this for you but I am at work & laptop with this on is at home so will do it for you soon as I can.

In order to narrow down the search, can you tell me what town he live in prior to enlisting, or his age.

Many thanks

He was living in Lambeth (which means he might not be in there I guess) and I think he was 21.

Thanks again.

Can you look up:

Sydney Coleman, with a view to finding an enlsitment in the Northamptonshire Regiment, please.

He lived at 55 Union Street, Croydon, Surrey, at some point in the war.

Could be any variation of:

Sydney Coleman

Sidney Coleman

Sydney Colman

Sidney Colman

or anything else you can think of!

Thank you.

Steve.

Looks like your out of luck too.

There is no S Colman listed and these two are the only S Coleman's listed.

Welcome to the forum :)

Do you know which one of these (if any) he is? Please remember that the Bn or Rgt enlisted in is not always the one on the MIC etc as many changed Rgt's Bn's etc. knowing where he lived or was born is a great help to me. If you think he is here I am more than happy to post his attestation details for you.

Dear Andy

I'd be very grateful if you could look for an entry for Harold F Waller, who served in the 1/5th East Surreys in India.

I've got his MIC - see attachment - and I want to find out if he was the younger brother of my grandfather, Alfred Waller, who you kindly looked up for me a few weeks ago. Harold would have been 20 or 21 in 1914.

Many thanks.

Phil

Like I said there are many Brooker's who attested in the 53rd (Surrey) recruiting district. If you can narrow it down a little

I will check the register for you.

Best of luck Matt

This appears to be the only entry that's a reasonable match for any of your three...

Thanks very much for that Steve.

Reg and Arthur are proving to be a bit elusive but I did find Ernest in the pension rolls on Ancestry, six pages of interesting detail, well worth checking out on the chance that the record survived WW2.
