1901 census

Can any member tell me when exactly the 1901 census of England & Wales was taken? I guess the size of the task meant it took several months?. I am trying to determine the age of a WW1 casualty and know his age in years in 1901. Knowing when the census was recorded would help

Cheers

Glyn,

The 1901 census was taken in England on the night of 31 March.

Just found the wife's grandfather on the 1901 census taken Sunday, 31 March. He was on board the Troop carrier Harlech Castle, off Netley, Southampton Water. He was described as a 'time expired soldier'.
