Pearson Memorial ?

Can anyone help identify the memorial shown in the attached file? . It is situated about two kilometres from Varreddes on the right hand side of the Varreddes – Barcy road . In Gerald Gliddons recent book The Aristocracy in the Great War , he writes of the death of Staff Sergeant Pearson , ASC in that area in September 1914 . Pearson was the third son of the 1st Viscount Cowdray and it would seem that a memorial was erected on the spot where he was killed . He now lies in the British cemetery at Montreuil Aux Lions . Whilst at Varreddes this year we found this memorial on the Barcy road but sadly the plaque is missing. I have written to British military museums , the Marie at Varreddes , French interest groups , the CWGC and finally to Viscount Cowdray , to see whether it can be identified , all without success .

The memorial could of course be nothing whatsoever to do with S/Sgt Pearson . Even if it doesn’t have this connection it would be of importance to see when and to whom it was raised and get the plaque replaced if at all possible.
