German "pickelhaube" and uniform parts

Some years ago I took some parts of a German uniform which were to be thrown away because the relative died.

Now I'm interested to find out some info about these things. Does anyone have some knowledge about these things? I'm especially interested to know when are they dated, if they indeed belong together or if these things are common or rather seldon to find. Also, why is there a single "helmet eagle" when the "pickelhaube" already has this part mounted?

Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany.

The one intact picklehaube appears to have an ordinary Prussian plate on it, whilst the seperate plate has what I believe is the Reservists Iron Cross on it. Simply the only surviving piece off another helmet?

The single Prussian plate lokks as if it was brand new, maybe it was a spare part?

Welcome Arnie,

Pickelhaube looks to be an officer version: Officer plate, chin strap, spike and the ring around the spike, cockades (the coloured parts on the 2 sides would indicate this also but i can't see enough of them, if the liner is silk rather than leather this would indicate oficer) spike however, looks to be held on by the wrong bolts (they should have star shaped heads for officer domed for OR's so maybe it is part made up) nice looking helmet, i have one very similar hope you enjoy owning it as much as i enjoy my example.

google "kaisers bunker" and you will find a web site that will tell you way way more than i ever will

regards

ken
