Owen D Posted 12 February , 2007 Share Posted 12 February , 2007 Dave (PS anyone know any tatooists that specialise in tatooing badgers?) Yes Dave, http://www.badger.org.uk/action/badger-reh...rotocol-03.html Badgers should be tattooed on both sides of the lower abdomen with a number supplied by the Badger Trust Rehabilitation Working Group
CROONAERT Posted 12 February , 2007 Share Posted 12 February , 2007 It'll be a damn nuisance trying to pin it to the anorak. Doesn't have to be a live badger John! If it's been clubbed first they wriggle a lot less. (Mind you though, I've only ever clubbed a seal and he still looked OK on Adamski's "Killer" video - don't know about badgers though!) John_Hartley Posted 12 February , 2007 Share Posted 12 February , 2007 Ok, for what it's worth, here was my design from a while ago. Tim L. Actually, mate, that wasnt your final version for the badge. There was a simplified design at post #163 on the thread: clickety click Takes you back, eh? You being all arty farty with the designs. Me just picking holes in it with nothing positive to say. John
CROONAERT Posted 12 February , 2007 Share Posted 12 February , 2007 Yes Dave, http://www.badger.org.uk/action/badger-reh...rotocol-03.html You really are a sad man aren't you, Owen? Do you know any that'll put a III Para tattoo on a badger's arm (foreleg) though? Dave

PBI Posted 12 February , 2007 Share Posted 12 February , 2007 Actually, come to think of it, I'd be pretty recognisable if I had a badger on a lead without the GWF tatoo wouldn't I? Maybe all GWF members should get a pet badger (tattoed or not) instead of a badge? We'd recognise each other then (but don't go near fields that contain cows - the farmer wouldn't be happy!). Dave (PS anyone know any tatooists that specialise in tatooing badgers?) Any good Tattoo Artist should have no problem doing a Badger for you..on what part of your Anatomy would you have the Tattoo done ?.

DaveBrigg Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 A badger would have been useful in the White Horse the other week when someone turned up to a forum get-together and left soon after, having failed to spot another member at the bar. On my first visit to the National Archives I scanned the dozens of people in the reading room looking for a possible forum member to ask for advice - (but they all looked old and boring, so no Pals there then). Anyone wearing a badger would have been easy to spot. (I understand that badgers contributed to victory on the Western Front by allowing themselves to be made into shaving brushes, greatly reducing the weight of whiskers carried into an attack)
auchonvillerssomme Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 are we looking at a pin back or pin and clutch? Personally I would go for pin and clutch every time. Mick
PBI Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 Trouble with badges is that the more visually challenged amongst us may find it hard to spot a badge at less than 10 yards,i was wondering if it may be an idea to maybe produce a T Shirt or Polo Shirt with a Fair size logo,and/or a standard Colour to accompany the Badge. John_Hartley Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 My apologies to anyone trying to take this thread seriously. Dave I imagine clubbing a badger is much the same as clubbing a seal. Although as less cute, you will be less despised. Unless, of course, by "clubbing" you meant in the sense of having a good night out in town. In which case, I'd take the badger, of course. John_Hartley Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 are we looking at a pin back or pin and clutch? I think velcro would be best with badgers. Not sure about seals
IanA Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 I assume this a bad thing? I think you may safely assume that if you are hotching with anything it is a 'bad thing'.
John_Hartley Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 PBI We've done polo shirts a couple of times (different styles). I have an "original" and very fetching I look in it (in a certain light). The badge idea came up for those times when, for instance, us anoraks are wearing them and covering up the shirt. I'd like to see the return of the shirt though as well. John

Frajohn Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 The idea of a badger and the Great War is not a recent one, many were kept as pets. As there were few cows, TB was not a problem, although exercise often was. John

Norrette Posted 13 February , 2007 Share Posted 13 February , 2007 Enough of this badgering people about badges. 1) Can I have a badge please? 2) The design shown in Biffo's post will do fine. Yup, I agree. For those of you who can't see it - get a pair of glasses, for those of you who are worried about it being covered up by yer coat - buy two! How much do they cost to manufacture? and are we talking about a tin badge - could start with that anyway, or something more expensive? Order a hundred and sell them on excursions/over the net. After a while get shops near the western front memorials to sell them? Come on you know it makes sense.... Norrette
