Chums, I wonder if you could advise as to whether this is Great War vintage or later. Looking on the NA site there was a Gunner Dibble No. 66232 RGA but first names Albert Victor. Can't actually find anyone with that name on the 1901 census or F. Dibble but there was a George F. Dibble and a Richard F Dibble of the right age.

On the tag it says 66232 F Dibble and in the centre C E with underneath that RGA. It appears to be made of a thin composite perhaps early plastic/bakerlite material.

John,

There was an Albert Victor Dibble of the RGA with that number in WW1 as you've stated, but I can't find anyone else with the number in the RGA. It is remotely possible that the tag post war and someone got he initial wrong... however here's his MIC -

Clicky here

Les.

It's a 1914 pattern "no.2" disc (worn until the 1960's) made of vulcanised fibre (see HERE for more details). The fact that it has the unit stamped dates it as pre-1920 (though it had to be pre-1924 anyway as the RGA ceased to be known as such then).
