Remembered Today:

2nd Lt Thomas R Worthington, 1/6th Manchesters

Tom Worthington is another of my war memorial queries. I've found several press cuttings about him, which chart his progress from enlistment into 1/6th Manchesters in September 1914 to receiving his commission at the beginning of August 1915, about a week before the press reports him missing presumed killed on 7 August at Gallipoli.

I can't find him, though, at CWGC or on SDGW. Any thoughts what I might try next.

My experience so far trying to persuade CWGC to make even minor changes to its records, suggest that press cuttings are not going to persuade them to put him on the Helles Memorial

John,

Faced with your problem I would look at the war diaries at Kew. Officers are frequently mentioned by name for all sorts of reasons and this may be the key.
