Remembered Today:

Anyone heard of this book?

I have seen an excerpt from this book (I think I have got the correct title) but cannot seem to find a copy anywhere. I have searched N&M press etc., but to no avail. As this would relate quite a bit to the actions of my Granddad in The Great War, I would desparately like to find and purchase a copy, any ideas where I could find it?

Thanks in anticipation.

I think the book you are referring to is: Britain's Sea Soldiers: A Record of the Royal Marines during the War 1914-1919 by General Sir HE Blumberg.

There are two copies available at Abebooks.com but you may wish to get somebody to buy it as a Christmas present!

If you happen to be located in the United States, I can tell you that I borrowed a copy of the book on Interlibrary Loan from the library at California State University, Fullerton a few years ago. Regards. Dick Flory

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I have checked out both titles at Abebooks and I think, due to the price, that this purchase will have to wait a little longer (certainly too much as a Christmas prezzie). :o

Dick, unfortunately I live in the UK but you have given me the idea to check with my local libraries to see if they have a copy or can locate one. ;)

At last Naval and Military Press have reprinted Britain's Sea Soldiers: A Record of the Royal Marines during the War 1914-1919 by General Sir HE Blumberg in both hard and soft back.

Format: 2007 N&MPress reprint. xxii + 492pp with b/w plates and maps, HB

Format: 2007 N&M Press reprint (original pub 1927). SB. xxii + 492pp with 7 maps ,22 plans. 27 portraits&plates,

Either the softback is more complete or they didn't write a full description for the hardback!

Plymouth Public library has the above book, Iwas able to borrow it on an interlibrary loan but was not allowed to remove it from my local library.

I have the SB version and the maps, plans and portraits are printed. As in any reprint the quality isn't 100%, but at 10% of the price of an original I thought I would buy one for now until I can better it with a pukka 1927 version. The book is a must for any WW1 RM or RND enthusiast.
