Guest jasonclarke1975@aol.com Posted 2 February , 2007 Share Posted 2 February , 2007 Hi All I recently bought a piece of campaign furniture with the name GE Prideaux-Brune Esq, 6th Inniskilling Dragoons. I am having some difficulty in locating anything about this person and I wondered if anyone could give me any further details? He is listed as having served with the Imperial Yeomanry in the Boer War but that's where it runs dry but it seems that there was another Prideaux-Brune (brother perhaps) serving in the 6th that got taken prisoner in WW1. Any help would be really appreciated, I'm starting to think they may have got the initials wrong... Many thanks Jason

Stebie9173 Posted 2 February , 2007 Share Posted 2 February , 2007 From the London Gazette: George Ernest Prideaux-Brune Commissioned as Lieutenant from Royal Military College to 6th Dragoons - 8-9-1886 Resigned commission from 6th Dragoons as Lt. - 2-11-1892 To Reserve of Officers as Lieutenant from Lieutenant 6th Dragoons 3-2-1900 Captain 11th Imperial Yeomanry 9-7-1900 (Temp) later antedated to 25-5-1900 Major 11th Imperial Yeomanry 20-4-1901 and resigns commission. In WW1 there was a Fulke, Deneys and Lancelot Prideaux-Brune all mentioned, but no-one else. Several of these have been discussed on the forum before and which you can find with search. He appears to have been a good amateur golfer playing at the Royal North Devon club. (Times reports from 1896 through 1913). I believe that the 6th Dragoons were in South Africa, Natal province from 1886-1890. Possiby : Birth: George Ernest Brune 1867 Jan-Feb-Mar Bideford Devon Marriage : George Ernest P Brune 1907 Jan-Feb-Mar Westminster (1870-1913) London, Middlesex Mary Evelyn Henry 1907 Jan-Feb-Mar Westminster (1870-1913) London, Middlesex Steve.
