Guest lemon trench Posted 1 December , 2003 Share Posted 1 December , 2003 Can someone advise me if the buttoms on a British soldiers tunic were all the same or had each regiment its own particular button. I have recently come into possession of 3 buttons purporting to have been found on the Somme. The facing on the button is the UK coat of arms ie Dieu et Mon Droit and Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense. Was this standard to every infantryman's tunic ? If not what regiments used this coat of arms ? Many thanks
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 1 December , 2003 Share Posted 1 December , 2003 What you have are the General Service buttons worn on the tunics of British soldiers. Ian
