Michael Lowrey Posted 30 January , 2007 Share Posted 30 January , 2007 Perce, Yes, Clan Ferguson was indeed torpedoed and sunk by a U-boat — UB 49 — on September 7, 1917 15 miles NW of Cape Spartel 35°50'N, 6°10'W while on a voyage from Glasgow to Alexandria and Bombay with a crgo of coal. 10 killed. Note that UB 49's commander at the time was Hans von Mellenthin, who would be awarded the Pour le Mérite on February 25, 1918. Best wishes, Michael

roypaule Posted 10 April , 2011 Share Posted 10 April , 2011 Hi Guys Fantastic thanks very much for the info-I found the WW2 one but couldn't find the WW1 one Cheers Perce 7 April 2011 Hello Perce, I was browsing/getting some info on a BWM named to this chap and I came across this thread. I purchased this BWM years ago (could not recall the exact year through eBay). As an additional note, in the SS Ferguson Wreck site at the Net, it's listed as being sunk by UB40...which is of course incorrect. Wrecktec Posted 11 April , 2011 Share Posted 11 April , 2011 Most of the crew were Indian Cheers Ron
