asdarley Posted 13 December , 2006 Share Posted 13 December , 2006 Can I tap into the deep pool of knowledge that exists on this forum and ask; Which book would people recommend as being the best to buy regarding the Tank Corps?

Verrinder Ian Posted 13 December , 2006 Share Posted 13 December , 2006 Hello, I agree with the above (especially Liddle Hart) and would like to add the following: - The Tank Corps - the history of the tank in the first world war by Major Clough Williams-Ellis (just been reprinted ISBN 1-904951-12-0) - The Boilerplate War by Foley - The Ironclads of Cambrai by Cooper - Following the Tanks by Gorczynski and Gibot The last two are really about Cambrai, whereas Foley goes up to Cambrai and gives just a brief overview of afterwards. There are several others if you want more choice but I'll stop at the risk of boring you! Regards, Ian.
David Seymour Posted 13 December , 2006 Share Posted 13 December , 2006 John Glanfield, The Devil's Chariots deals with the birth and introduction to service of the tank. Not a history of the tank corps but well-researched and dealing with an important area. Best wishes, David
delta Posted 13 December , 2006 Share Posted 13 December , 2006 David Fletcher's " Tanks and Trenches" provides lots of first hand accounts of the tanks at their key battles. however if you wish to know about their first action; it has to be Trevior Pidgeon's "Tank at Flers"
