Macka.

Cannot add anything I'm afraid but my great uncle was in 4th Division artillery (37 Battery) so always interesting to see photos like this.

Thanks for posting them.

Ernest Charles Myers was an original in the 10th Light Horse Regiment. He had the service number 232 and was assigned to B Squadron. When he enlisted in October 1914 he was an 17 year old farmer from Wongan Hills Western Australia.

He embarked from Fremantle Western Australia on the HMAT Mashobra on 8th February 1915.

He was a trumpeter for his company and served on Gallipoli where he was wounded for the Battle for Hill 60 on August 30th 1915.

He was taken on strength of the 4th Divisional Artillery in April 1916 and served throughout the rest of the war with them.

He arrived back in Australia by the end of 1918

He died in WA on the 14th of February 1946

neil.

My dad,s surname is also McKenzie (spelt with a small c) he came from surrey before migrating to ausie land, joined up in QLD 1915.Light Horse; after Gallipoli, he was attached to the 4th DAC, having no experiance in military terms,so I can only wonder what regiment, battalion, brigade etc that this 4th Dac was attached to. He also belonged to the Imperial Yeomnary in London 4th Bn 77th Company .I have his papers for that part of his life (thanks to Kevin Aspelin).
