Sandra Parker Posted 8 December , 2006 Share Posted 8 December , 2006 Alfred Collins married my aunt. I have just got their daughter, my cousin's, birth certificate, dated 1920. On it says her father was a labourer, ex Army. This is one of the very few clues to this part of the family, with whom we have never had any contact. I have searched the National Archives site, but they have no listing for Alfred Edward Henry Collins, nor even Alfred Edward Collins, but there are 144 listings for Alfred Collllins. I know he was born about 1898 (from his marriage certificate), but I have no idea where he was born, so I have even less of an idea which regiment he may have served with. I would really appreciate some advice on where I could possibly find any further details, given that I have so little information. Maybe if someone could give me an idea where to find the haystack, I might be able to start looking for the needle! Many thanks for wonderful help in the past, and maybe a heap of luck as well, in the present! Sandra Australia
chaz Posted 8 December , 2006 Share Posted 8 December , 2006 Hi Sandra there is one Alfred Henry and one Alfred Edward (Hull) listed but no Alfred Edward Henry (gloucester)with 1901 census, both being port areas in England where they could have sailed from. there are 66 Alfred Collins listed as being born 1898 +-2 years BUT putting Alfred Collins in 1898+-2 years as born date there is a Alfred E H Collins from Goole Yorkshire, you will have to pay to download info but close as it gets. http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov...rch_with_locale
