I have recently bought the above S/T from a Sunday market for 50p. There are no lugs on the rear and I can see no markings of where there may have been any kind of fixings. I'm sure I have read somewhere that S/T's like this were sewn on to the shoulder straps, can anyone put me right, I will post a pic as soon as the battery for the camera has charged, cheers, Jon :D

All the liverpool City Battalion shoulder titles I have ever seen have had lugs east and west, I think the ones on your title have either broken off, of the title may have been unfinished.

Thanks Peter, here's the S/T, just can't see where any lugs would have been, there are no solder marks & it certainly looks as if it were issued, cheers, Jon :D

I see what you mean- no visible signs of any lugs ever having been attached. Whilst there are examples of metal badges being made to be sewn onto uniforms , this in my experience is not usually the case with shoulder titles.

People who understand more about chemistry may be able to tell you if all traces of brazing might disappear under certain storage conditions for example if corrosion was to somehow get between the metal of the badge and the brazing

Even without lugs its still a very good buy for 50p
