Guest Libby Posted 6 December , 2006 Share Posted 6 December , 2006 Hi, I'm hoping that you may be able to help. I am researching some battle and war history in relation my great grandfater Percy Edward Bazley who served with 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 22nd Machine Gun Company. He arrived in France on 12/5/17. I have his records history from AWM etc but was trying to track down battles etc that he may have been involved in. I know that he received a Military Medal where action commended details were officially dated 14/10/17 - I'm not sure if this would be the date that he actually performed the actions for which he was commended. The citation reads "on the morning of the 4th inst in the operations in the vicinity of Zonnebeke.....". I don't however know what the 4th inst (I'm assuming installment) actually refers to. If you could assist in any background of his Co actions etc etc or the meaning of the 4th inst., or indeed anything else I would much appreciate it. He left France, to England on 11/10/18 and returned again on 29/10/18. Cheers Libby
