Guest KevinEndon Posted 3 December , 2006 Share Posted 3 December , 2006 My wife's uncles thinks his grandfather was awarded the Croix de Guerre in 1920 for helping the French overcome an outbreak of either typhoid or some other disease but he doesn't think it was the Spanish flu pandemic in 1918. He didn't get back to the U.K. until late 1920. I will get to see the medal within a couple of weeks with any luck and would love to give him a bit more info as to what his grandfather got it for, so any info would be much appreciated. Sorry I can't add his name or unit at the moment but will try and get this info tomorrow. Kevin
HarryBettsMCDCM Posted 4 December , 2006 Share Posted 4 December , 2006 Could well be,They could be awarded for many different things, especially if actually for a liason with the French,I have a 5th Dorsetshire Regt award to a Wimborne lad killed whilst assisting the locals in the Autumn Harvest, when the reapers were "Reaped".
