snailybailey Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 I am researching a trio of brothers form North of the border, all casualties, and hoped somebody can help me. Did Scotland carry out a census in 1901 as England and Wales did? If so how can I access it? I am trying to determine if they were the parents only children. Cheers Glyn
dorisj7 Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 I have used this site. You have to buy units, but it does have a 1901 census. Scotlands People Good luck Doris
cherubdc Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Hello Glyn I don't really know much about scottish records but this link is a site that I have come across a few times and it seems to be quite good and the 1901 census is listed. I registered to have a look at it's a site that uses Credits for viewing records. Ancestry only seem to list the 1841 for some reason. Hope this helps. clarkc_bpo Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Hi I use ScotlandsPeople website a lot and can recommend it. £6 buys you 30 credits for approximately one weeks worth of access. After the week is up, your credits are still in your account, but you have to pay again for another weeks access. Once you have access, you can view the records - census 1851->1901, births and marriages to 1905 and deaths to 1955. It also has all the old Parish records indexed too. Searching doesn't cost any credits, but it costs 1 credit (20p) to view the list of matches, then 5 credits to view the actual document. Copies of OPR's need to be ordered for 10 credits. regards Clark
