rugby-137 Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Hi Sue I was down at Brookwood today and found these names on the Memorial to the missing, ww2 I know, but I thought of you and was wondering if you could shed any light on them at all. Sue Light Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Phil They were four of 77 women lost when the SS Khedive Ismail was torpedoed and sunk in the Indian Ocean on 12th February 1944 - the greatest single loss of British servicewomen ever. If you Google for Khedive Ismail, quite a lot comes up [among the unrelated links]. I have a list of the other members of QAIMNS, QAIMNS Reserve and the Territorial Army Nursing Service who also lost their lives. Sue
rugby-137 Posted 28 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Hi Sue Many thanks for that and such a quick answer your knowledge never ceases to amaze me. Every now and then I find something of interest when photographing at Brookwood and this came up today, a bit more for my database. Thanks again Regards Phil Henry
