Hi Sue

I was down at Brookwood today and found these names on the Memorial to the missing, ww2 I know, but I thought of you and was wondering if you could shed any light on them at all.

Regards

Phil

They were four of 77 women lost when the SS Khedive Ismail was torpedoed and sunk in the Indian Ocean on 12th February 1944 - the greatest single loss of British servicewomen ever. If you Google for Khedive Ismail, quite a lot comes up [among the unrelated links]. I have a list of the other members of QAIMNS, QAIMNS Reserve and the Territorial Army Nursing Service who also lost their lives.

Hi Sue

Many thanks for that and such a quick answer your knowledge never ceases to amaze me.

Every now and then I find something of interest when photographing at Brookwood and this came up today, a bit more for my database.

Thanks again

Regards

Phil Henry
