geoff_allan Posted 27 November , 2006 Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Has anyone else come across wikispaces and what seems to be an attempt to list all known war memorials, and indexes of names ? Although a praiseworthy effort, it would seem to be asking for a great deal of duplication of effort ... but it might be worth keeping an eye on. See http://warmemorials.wikispaces.com/ I've just put a link in to my Isle of Wight Memorials website, so may be that's what other war memorial listers should do. spoons Posted 27 November , 2006 Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Seems like a brave step but there is not much on there at the moment. I will keep an eye on it and if it seems to be taking off, I will happily put all of my stuff in and close down my own site. I have around 40 memorials up at the moment (www.ukwarmemorials.co.uk) and about another 70 to sort. It's a shame that the UKNIWM does not have photos online because I think that, in this day and age, anyone incapable of travelling to the memorial should be able to go online to look up a photo and see the actual inscription of the person they are looking for and also see the memorial in context. Jim Clay Posted 28 November , 2006 Share Posted 28 November , 2006 Pals should be aware of Forum member Memorial Man's excellent site http://www.roll-of-honour.com/ (This praise is not posted because Martin has included and photographed my home town memorial, nor because he has included some biographical info which I brought to his attention ) Jim
Borden Battery Posted 29 November , 2006 Share Posted 29 November , 2006 Here is one of thirty chapters of recommended Great War websites from the CEF Study Group. Borden Battery Great War Honour Websites - Part 15 Note: CEF Study Group member websites denoted with asterisk "*" ============================================== Canadian Book of Remembrance The Books of Remembrance contain the names of Canadians who fought in wars and died either during or after them.
