roger Posted 27 November , 2006 Share Posted 27 November , 2006 If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated. The inscription reads SERgt. James Beaman Yorkshire Lt Infantry. I've tried all the usual avenues, cwgc, sdgw, mic, but with no luck. Am I missing something? Roger.
Max Posted 27 November , 2006 Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Roger He may well have died outside of the cwgc cut off date from non-war related injuries, but the war memorial committee may have decided to include him anyway. Andy
roger Posted 27 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Good point Andy. There is a chap on another memorial about four miles from this one who died in 1935. I forgot about that, although I would've expected to find a MIC Cheers, Roger.

ian turner Posted 27 November , 2006 Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Wonder if name is correct? Cannot readily see on 1901/1881, nor Free BMD. Ian
roger Posted 27 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Ian, I thought that too. Seaman was a possible but that didn't fit either. Bit of a mystery really. Roger
Cliff. Hobson Posted 27 November , 2006 Share Posted 27 November , 2006 Roger Suggest you try the local papers obituaries this way I have found 3 on our Village War Memorial who were past the cut off date. with the raising of funds from public subscriptions and finding suitable sites Memorials were delayed in being erected. It was 1924 before the completion of our Village War Memorial was completed. Cliff.
