tgrubb Posted 23 November , 2006 Share Posted 23 November , 2006 Hi Yet another unidentified family photograph has surfaced. It is faint and the cap badge will not scan any clearer than this small blur but can anyone help? He looks too old to be a front line soldier but what are the alternatives? Thanks Tim
delta Posted 23 November , 2006 Share Posted 23 November , 2006 Probably a reservist recalled to the Colours - not a Granadier; possibly a Welsh Fusilier?
Muerrisch Posted 23 November , 2006 Share Posted 23 November , 2006 Not smart enough for RWF ..... probably one of the other fusilier regiments!

Thanks Tim My guess is the 7th County of London, the flames look more upright than those on the other Fusilier Regiments. The grenade ought to have a nickel 7 on it but the photo is indistinct. Any family history, locations available? Keith
auchonvillerssomme Posted 23 November , 2006 Share Posted 23 November , 2006 Is there a badge on his right sleeve where the big crease is? it does seem a bit high up for a rank badge so i might be imagining it.... he is one smart soldier. max7474 Posted 23 November , 2006 Share Posted 23 November , 2006 I agree with Keith it is in the shape of 7th london regt - definately not LF or RWF as the flames are too elongated. Alan
tgrubb Posted 23 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 23 November , 2006 Alan, Mick, Keith, Stevem Thanks for the replies. Generally this side of the family is from the SE so London is more likely than a Welsh or northern regiment. Other than that all I know is that the postcard is to my great great aunt. I have attached some close ups of the areas you all mentioned. They are from a 1200dpi image so I can't really get them any clearer. Thanks for your help Tim
