Desmond7 Posted 17 November , 2006 Share Posted 17 November , 2006 Jimmy - I have an H Marshall joining up before May 1915. H is for Herbert (not the officer type of same name). Served, POW'd around March 24(ish) 1918. 2nd Ballymena roll of honour has him as 2nd Rifles. Plus .. family came in the other day. His son will be 80 something next Friday. They're trying to get some stuff together and I've ot the local paper/church references. They did bring in his kitbag (basically the big canvas dufflebag). It seems he also served in 2nd RUR after war ... the names of all the places he served as marked on it like a 'battle honour' in his own hand in the 1920s equivalent of felt tipped pen. His post war RUR number had a 700 prefix. Ever come across him by any chance. Been through the book ... sadly he wasn't court martialled or I could have a good story for 'em! Best wishes from God's Own Country.
