machin Posted 15 November , 2006 Share Posted 15 November , 2006 I wonder if anyone can help! I am tr6ying to trace the movements of Arthur Blake who joined the RF in Novemer 1914 and who went on a course at Balliol College Oxford between May and July 1916-- presumably something to do with officer training; it is described as OCB No 6 He had been a private number 127763 in the RF and became a LT in the Royal Welsh regiment after august 1916. In july 1918 he became a Lt in the Machine Gun Corps. would he have seen action with the Royal Fusiliers? Thanks Tim
charlesmessenger Posted 15 November , 2006 Share Posted 15 November , 2006 Tim From the heading of your posting do you mean that he was in the 19th Royal Fusiliers? if so, he would have gone to Frrance with them in late November 1915 and would have been posted to No 6 Officer Cadet Batalion after they had been disbanded in late April 1916. Along with the 18th, 20th, and 21st Fusiliers they were known as the University of Public Schools Brogade and contained many men with officer potential and many were sent to OCBs after disbandment. machin Posted 19 November , 2006 Author Share Posted 19 November , 2006 Thanks! Tim Did the 19th Fusiliers see any action between going out to France in November 1915 and the following May when "my man" Arthur Blake came back to the OCB at Oxford in May 1916? I really appreciate your help. Tim
