Guest KevinEndon Posted 15 November , 2006 Share Posted 15 November , 2006 Some forum members took part in the opening ceremony at Cowie on a soaking wet day in September 2006. I was privileged to lay a wreath on behalf of the forum. http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...showtopic=59085 Below are photos from Cowies first ever Remembrance Day at their own memorial. ............ Guest KevinEndon Posted 15 November , 2006 Share Posted 15 November , 2006 ......... Here we have Willie laying the wreath to Cowies fallen. Sorry I have no details of the veteran in the first post but doesn't he look proud (as I did) to be laying the wreath. No doubt to fallen friends and comrades. EDIT. This is from an email I got from Willie when I asked him about the veteran. The veteran is Robert (BERTIE) Brewster, he will be 85 years old in a few weeks time, he served in the R.A.F.V.R. as an air-gunner in the Second World War and yes a lot of them were friends of his, one especially, he tells the story of his best pal, Flight-Sergeant Joseph Connelly and himself as 19 year olds, no fear in them at that age, as they joined up as air-gunners, taking a bet with each other as to who would shot down the most Jerries, sad to say Joseph's name is on the memorial. He didn't make it back. Willie.
eve Posted 15 November , 2006 Share Posted 15 November , 2006 I followed the earlier threads on this memorial and just want to say BRAVO to Willie. Fantastic work. It must have been a extra special remembrance service this year. Evelyn
